Troubleshooting
These are the most common support questions we get. Probably 95% of all issues can be resolved by following the instructions on this page; even more can be resolved by checking the "How to..." page for more specific instructions. In addition, this information can be found in any staff member's Profile Picks.
I am unable to add people to my door access list.
- TOUCH the door first
- Make sure you enter the person's name EXACTLY as it appears in SL. jon smith is not the same as Jon Smith.
- Did you TOUCH the door first?
- Did you forget the number one after / (e.g., /1 add Zena Silverstar, not /add Zena Silverstar)?
- TOUCH the door first.
- Did you forget the word add (e.g., /1 add Zena Silverstar, not /1 Zena SIlverstar)?
- Did you IM the command to TBR staff, rather than chat it in your local chat text box so the door could hear it? Objects cannot hear IMs--commands need to be typed in your regular local chat window.

I am unable to tint/untint the house windows.
- Make sure your Tropical Beach Rentals or TCR Residents group tag is active.
- Be sure you are using the correct chat channel as each house operates on a different channel. Not sure which channel to use? You can find your house channel by right-clicking your house, select Edit, and look for the three-digit number following "TBR." For example, if you right click on your house, select Edit, and see TBR 912 for the house name, then your house is on channel 912. (See the "How to..." page on this web site for fore detailed instructions on finding your house channel.) To control your windows, you would local chat (not IM) /912 menu. If your house says "TBR NC", then it does not use a channel--look for a window controller next to the downstairs front door.
- Did you enter the command correctly? If your house channel is 912, then local chat /912 menu - NOT /TBR 912 menu or /menu. You need to local chat (not IM) a forward slash, followed by the channel number (no spaces), followed by a space, followed by the word "menu."
I can't rez objects or my objects keep getting returned.
- Is your Tropical Beach Rentals or TCR Residents group tag active? (If you answer "yes" to this question, then are you sure? Have you double checked?)
- DON'T wear the objects first! Just drag and drop them from your inventory.
The media center isn't working.
- Is your Tropical Beach Rentals or TCR Residents group tag active? (If you answer "yes" to this question, then are you sure? Have you double checked? See the "How to..." page on this web site for instructions on checking/changing your active group.)
- Is the media set to the wrong type? Your media player should have a movie camera icon.

If it doesn't, select About Land (click the parcel properties--the part of your SL menu bar that tells you what sim you're in, the coordinates, and the name of the parcel)-->the Media tab-->the drop down arrow for the Media Type selector-->click Video.
- Is the stream you're trying to watch dead or down? Try selecting a different channel.
- Is the picture scrunched to one corner of the viewing screen? Check "Auto scale" on the parcel properties. About Land-->Media tab-->Auto scale.
- Do you have the latest version of Quicktime installed? http://www.quicktime.com
- When you click the Media Center, do you get a blue on-screen menu? If not, make sure your TBR or TCR group tag is active. If it is, and the Media Center does not respond, then please IM Ronon Carver or Zena Silverstar, and we will reboot the sim.
The radio isn't working.
- Activate your Tropical Beach Rentals, TCR Residents,or TBR Suites group tag, whichever is appropriate for the parcel who's settings you are trying to change. (See the "How to..." page on this web site for instructions on checking/changing your active group.)
I can't set home to here.
- Have you joined the Tropical Beach Rentals or TCR Residents group yet? You have to be a member of the group to set home to here. The group is open join, so you can join it yourself at your convenience, or IM a staff member for an invitation.
Getting further assistance
Still have questions? IM any staff member for assistance. Be specific in your request; please do not just IM "hi" or "hello" or "I have a question/problem/issue." This can cause a significant delay in resolving your issue as we play IM tag back and forth. And, for fastest assistance, tell us what rental you're in. For example, "Hi, I'm in Sage Bay #13, and I don't think my prim counter is working properly." (You'll find your rental name in your SL menu bar above your avatar's head and also floating in yellow text above your rental box.) Even if the staff member if not in-world, s/he may be online checking IMs through email, and most issues can be resolved very quickly this way. Very rarely is an actual in-world presence required. If it is, then either that staff member can log in and resolve the issue, or s/he can forward it to a staff member who is currently in-world.
